While many strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) are harmless, there are some strains that can make you very sick. If you are exposed to these strains as a result of negligence, wrongdoing, or unsafe food production, you may be able to pursue a legal claim against those who are responsible for the harm you endure.
For over 20 years, Jory Lange of The Lange Law Firm has been aggressively fighting for victims of food poisoning. While many injury firms handle a few cases each year related to contaminated food, or none at all, The Lange Law Firm has made food safety its focus.
Our team has developed an in-depth knowledge of the investigative process, so we know how to build the strongest possible claims by proving causation using advanced traceback methods and sometimes DNA or whole-genome sequencing. We’ll put our knowledge, skills and experience to work to help you get the justice you deserve.

E. coli infections can occur anywhere, although a common source of contamination often makes many people very sick in the same area. This can give rise to class action or mass tort cases where multiple plaintiffs come together to take action against a restaurant, food distributor or producer, food processor, caterer, or other entity that caused their exposure.
Specific strains of E. coli, including Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), primarily cause gastrointestinal illness that can lead to symptoms like severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, dehydration, fatigue, weakness, and dizziness.
In some cases, however, STEC infection can result in serious complications including hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), kidney failure, chronic kidney disease, hemolytic anemia, and thrombocytopenia (a very low platelet count). E. coli can also result in high blood pressure. And sometimes death can result.
When you develop these complications, you may face significant damages. You need a law firm with the knowledge and experience to identify defendants, prove causation and build a strong case for compensation.
