If it seems like you just heard about a Salmonella outbreak linked to moringa powder, you aren’t mistaken. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reported another, separate outbreak linked to the superfood supplement powder.

This one larger, with more recalled products, and involves capsules.

What’s going on with moringa powder? What should you look out for if you have consumed it recently? Why is this Salmonella outbreak so serious? Most importantly, what should you do if you get sick?

Moringa Powder Capsules Linked to Salmonella Outbreak

Earlier this month, the FDA announced an extensively drug-resistant Salmonella outbreak linked to moringa powder capsules.

As of February 19, 2026 at least seven people have been linked to the outbreak. Of which three people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported. Sick people have been identified in the states of Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, and Washington.

Illnesses have dated back to November 7, 2025, with the last report of illness onset occurring on January 8, 2026. All people available for interview reported eating the same brand of moringa powder capsules.

Not to be confused with the Salmonella outbreak associated with moringa leaf powder identified at the end of 2025 that sickened and hospitalized at least three people. Initially, Members Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder was indicated as the source of that outbreak. However, it quickly expanded to three other brands. One being Vallon Farmdirect from Johdpur, India, a Food To Live brand, and the other came in bulk 1 kilogram box packaging sold on Africa Imports’ website.

This outbreak is different.

It involves different products and a different strain of Salmonella. One that creates additional complications.

Why Is This Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Moringa Powder Capsules So Serious?
